Oldest Music Club in Western New York!

The Mozart Club, originally called The Musical Club, was formed on November 29, 1879, as the first women's club in Chautauqua County. Some of Jamestown's most prestigious women, gathered with Miss Josephine Fenton and Mrs. A. D. Allen, invited twenty or more women to join them in studying, performing, and promoting classical and standard works of music literature. These women planned their Soiree Musicale for January 23, 1880, at the home of Mrs. Robert Newland on East Fifth Street. Almost 150 years later, The Mozart Club still meets, inviting musicians to perform for club members, promoting musicianship throughout Chautauqua County, and encouraging young musicians to continue their studies through the Mozart Scholarship. Musicians of every age and background are encouraged to join us!

Members of The Mozart Club gather at the Marvin Community House for August Tea.
